Hail Hail the name we own

Hi. as members of the La Martiniere family, we believe in the values the schools stand for. If people are proven to have brought the hallowed institution to ignominy, by all means weed them out to cleanse the school. But let us at least wait for the verdict given by the relevant authorities instead of each person on the street turning into judge, jury and executioner! The press are involved in what they do best i.e. rabble rousing. Why are we making it easier for them to stir up all the mud at our expense?

As an educationist I heartily agree that corporal punishment is unpardonable in this day and age. But let us not forget that only a few decades ago it was quite the order of the day in boys' schools. Has anybody heard of a teenager committing suicide because he was caned in school? Does it not appear likely that there was some other trigger? If the boy was continually victimized and miserable in school, would he not have communicated this to his parents? And as caring and concerned parents, once convinced of their son's tribulations, would they not have taken up the matter with all concerned authorities? Are there any records of this happening?

Any experienced person in related fields knows that a teenager who bursts a stink bomb in class is begging for attention. This begs for the question, was he neglected ? And if so, by whom?

When a child oversteps the limits permitted in class, it is the normal way of things that the teacher will sent him to the principal. Is this abetment of suicide?

Suddenly, experts from all fields are joining the fray to claim that "taking corrective action" for indiscipline is not permitted in school. What exactly is the role of the school in the opinion of these self-styled experts? If schools are perceived by society at large, as relaying stations of information, would it not be better for all concerned if they were shut down in favour of the internet.

THIS THEN OUR SONG SHALL BE AS WE CHANT HIS EULOGY........
